THe ChallengeWhen behavior impedes student success in the regular classroom setting, students are given the opportunity to go to the R.I.S.E. Room to develop a solution to this problem. R.I.S.E. is an acronym for the steps carried out while students are in the R.I.S.E. Room. These steps include Recovering from the situation, Identifying the problem, Setting goals for the future, and Evaluating the process. Beyond that, R.I.S.E is a challenge. R.I.S.E. challenges students to
- strive to reach high expectations - invest in their own intelligence - reject negative peer influences - overcome stereotypes - be proactive in the face of adversity - problem solve maturely - be the best they can be no matter what R.I.S.E is not meant to be a punitive process, but instead a system that empowers students to take control of their struggles and to create plans to overcome those obstacles in the future. |
